Structural Collapse Specialist 1

Structural Collapse Specialist 1 is a 40-hour CA State Fire Marshal certified course taught in a
five-day format and provides advanced heavy rescue system techniques. Key topics include:
Structural building types, wood and mechanical shores, crib capacities, floor weight calculations,
building search, confined space considerations, damaged structure hazard assessment, use of
power tools, air bags and USAR ICS. There is substantial pre-course work that is required prior
to the start of class.​

Student Requirements:
Students are required to bring the following equipment to class every day.

​

  • Fire department helmet or rescue helmet

  • Eye & ear protection

  • Rope rescue or fire department gloves

  • Long pants or coveralls – NO SHORTS

  • Steel toed and shanked safety boots

  • Long sleeve shirts ONLY

Optional Equipment:

​

  • Water

  • Sun screen

​​

Prerequisite requirements:

Rope Rescue Operations (SFT) or
LARRO (SFT) and Rescue Systems 1 (SFT) and
IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 (FEMA-online) and
Confined Space Awareness (SFT) and
Structural Collapse Specialist (FEMA, computer-based training, 2017 or current edition) this will
be assigned to members who are registered for the class.

(Course Tuition $1125 + Mandatory SFT Fee $75)
